PID - Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
PID is nothing but the inflammation of the pelvic region and the subsequent infection of the female reproductive organs. It is an umbrella term that is used in an ill-defined manner by the general and medical practitioners to denote infections in those regions. Bacteria, virus, fungi and protozoan elements can bring about infections in the fallopian tubes and the uterus in women. The result is disastrous, as the affected will lose their ability to conceive in an appropriate manner. Let us ponder over some other aspects of the condition, the causes and the symptoms along with the remedial measures that are in store for the ailing
It is tough to define how infections set in the female reproductive organs. Normally, the region is well protected from external contagious agents. However, the introduction of sexually transmitted infections can wreak havoc. Within no time, the entire system is upset and the infection spreads throughout the reproductive organs. Women who have loose sexual preferences are prone to be infected from pelvic inflammatory diseases. They might indulge in unprotected sex with perfect strangers who will reward their gesture with potent bacteria, which ultimately induces PID. Lovemaking sessions with men who carry bacteria that cause gonorrhea and LGV will pave the way for PID.
Inflammation in the pelvic region does not necessarily mean that the subject is unchaste. At times, it can be generated due to the inducement of infectious agents during surgeries and childbirth. Physicians usually ensure that the surgical instruments are free of pathogenic organisms. The symptoms that materialize in women, when they have the condition tend to be highly diverse. For instance, pain and yellowish discharges might never occur to every woman. However, they experience feverish conditions and intense pain while having sex. Since the internal linings of the vaginal cavity are affected, pain occurs when the patient urinates. Accumulation of pus-filled cavities in the inner reproductive organs is yet another symptom.
Instead of waiting for the next big thing to occur, it is better to seek expert advice and treatment for the inflammation - or even better, listen to preventive medicine experts and: protect yourself! Usually intense doses of antibiotics might help. However, the physician might subject the affected to extensive tests, which would enable them to diagnose the condition accurately. At times, the patient will be asked to spend time in the clinic - it is true if the same is already expecting a child. There is a high possibility for the bacteria to enter the bloodstream and disrupt the growth of the fetus.
Practice safe sex if you wish to engage in the act with multiple partners. Please bear in mind that there are other kinds of sexually transmitted diseases, which can literally end your expectations prematurely. It is imperative to avail the remedial measures for PID in the innate stages itself. Else, it is futile and difficult to eradicate the condition completely. There is a possibility for the same condition to recur in the body - if the earlier environments are stimulated (read having unprotected sex with men who carry STI with them).
